Get work done.
Without the overhead.
OSU students build websites, tools, and research for businesses, nonprofits, and masjids, with MTC mentoring the whole way.

What Luma actually is
Luma is the student consulting arm of the Muslim Tech Collaborative at Ohio State. We pair OSU students with businesses, nonprofits, and community orgs that need technical work done, and the students get experience that actually counts.

You get real deliverables
Students take on actual work: websites, research, tools, strategy. You walk away with something you can use, not a slide deck of recommendations.
We don't disappear
Every team has MTC mentors checking in along the way, so the work stays on track and meets a real professional bar. We stay involved start to finish.
It can grow with you
Most projects start small. A lot of our partners come back for follow-up work or a new idea once they see what a team can do.
Why we do it
Good technical help is expensive, and a lot of orgs that do real good in our community can't afford it. Meanwhile students need real work to point to. Luma sits in the middle: clear projects, clear expectations, and MTC backing the whole thing.
Our Approach
We work in three steps: understand your needs, match you with a student group, then support the work through to delivery.
Consultation
We talk through what you need—whether it's a one-off project or ongoing support. We define scope, timeline, and what "done" looks like so everyone starts aligned.
Matching
Students are placed into groups based on the skills needed to complete each project. We match your project with a group that has the right mix—software dev, AI/ML, design, research, or whatever the work requires—so you get a team that can deliver.
Delivery
The student group does the work with check-ins and support from us. We use simple frameworks so deliverables are consistent and usable. You get something you can actually use.
Payment is flexible
Some partners pay students; others offer volunteer or stipend arrangements. We’re happy to work with your budget. Students join mainly for the experience and something concrete for their portfolio, so both paid and unpaid setups work.
Partner With Us
Get help from OSU students who want to do real work. We handle matching and support so you get reliable output without the overhead of a full hire.
Fresh perspective
Students bring current skills and a different angle. Good for projects that benefit from a new set of eyes or up-to-date tools.
Flexible terms
Volunteer, stipend, or paid—we can structure the engagement to fit your budget. Many students are here mainly for the experience.
Right-sized projects
From a single deliverable (e.g. a report or landing page) to ongoing support. We scope it so it's manageable for you and them.
Quality in mind
Students are mentored by MTC so work stays on track. We're not sending you someone and disappearing—we stay involved.
Types of work we do
If you have something else in mind, get in touch—we can usually find a fit.
